Frequently Asked Questions.

1. What is a destination club?

Destination clubs combine the advantages of home ownership with the hassle-free concierge service of a world-class hotel. For an initial entry fee ranging between $135,000 and $300,000 plus annual dues, members share a diverse portfolio of meticulously appointed homes in all corners of the world. Clubs provide use privileges normally ranging between two and seven weeks.

2. What are the key benefits of a destination club compared with other vacation options?

  • Cost-effective and environmentally conscious alternative to second home ownership, fractional residences and villa rentals
  • A private collection of beautifully appointed “second homes” without the maintenance hassle and expenses associated with ownership
  • Diversity of locations to suit every preference, from beach resorts to ski chalets to urban apartments and more
  • Stress-free and less time-consuming vacation planning
  • The exceptional service expected from world-class resorts and hotels, but with the personalized experience and comforts of a private home

3. Who is Abercrombie & Kent and why did they choose to develop a destination club?

For nearly five decades, Abercrombie & Kent has been internationally recognized as the first name in high-end adventure travel. Born in 1962 as a safari outfitter, Abercrombie & Kent’s unparalleled travel operations now extend around the globe to more than 100 countries on all seven continents. Abercrombie & Kent’s deep roots and long-established relationships give access to places off limits to others. It is this insider access that provides customers with a lifetime of unforgettably inspiring and authentic experiences. Encouraged by the interest of many of Abercrombie & Kent’s loyal travellers, Abercrombie & Kent decided to join the destination club industry.

4. How is the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club different from other destination clubs?

The Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club is a private travel club designed to meet all of your personal travel needs by providing access to multi-million-dollar homes, villas and trips around the world. And unlike other destination clubs, we have an equity structure where the Club owns a portfolio of debt-free properties and the members own the Club. The primary differentiating features of the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club include:

  • Abercrombie & Kent’s nearly five-decade history of delivering unsurpassed travel experiences — we are the most experienced travel club in the world, bar none
  • An unmatched global portfolio of destinations — access to over 100 countries on all seven continents
  • Exceptional availability — a unique availability model addresses the major deficiencies of competing destination clubs
  • Equity ownership and financial transparency — our equity structure provides unsurpassed peace of mind, alignment of interests, financial transparency and superior resignation proceeds

5. Why did Abercrombie & Kent choose an equity membership model?

Providing members with an equity stake in the Club gives the members, rather than the manager, the benefits and protections associated with owning an asset, rather than just using that asset. Abercrombie & Kent feels strongly that no matter how many destinations and homes a club offers, the club is not an ideal choice for members unless it provides an equity component—this is the element that is missing from most other destination clubs.

6. What is the difference between an equity and non-equity destination club?

The core difference between these two club models is related to the ownership of the club assets. In an equity club, the members own the club and the club owns the property portfolio. In a non-equity club, members do not own the club; they simply have rights to use the properties. Also, in a non-equity club, properties are typically financed with significant debt, whereas with an equity club, properties are wholly owned by the club with no debt.

7. How will Members be able to enjoy Abercrombie & Kent travel across the globe?

Members will be able to apply a full year's Annual Usage Plan allotment toward trips within Abercrombie & Kent’s unmatched portfolio of experiences every three years in the Club -- this is called the Travel Credit program.  Each Club night exchanged has a dollar value which is applied to A&K travel opportunities or A&K European villa reservations.  And since these travel opportunities are provided by Abercrombie & Kent and its travel partners, they will be seamlessly executed with the incomparable quality only Abercrombie & Kent can provide.

In addition, members may exchange their Club nights for use toward an additional 22 A&K European villas in the Travel Credit program.

8. What amenities can a member enjoy at Club homes?

Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club homes are spacious (most often four bedrooms/four and a half baths) and exceedingly comfortable, with custom-designed furnishings and high-end electronics and appliances. Kitchens are outfitted for a chef, and beds and bathrooms have the finest linens and toiletries. Many homes come equipped with private swimming pools and hot tubs and access privileges to local resort amenities. Many are in close proximity to the destination’s major attractions.

9. What type of service can members expect?

The finest Member Services team will be available 24/7. During the planning phase, Global Experience Managers will work with members to plan and arrange all aspects of the vacation. Once members are at the home of choice, Destination Hosts will offer assistance with a wide range of destination-specific activities such as ski lessons, golf, yacht rentals, dinner reservations and grocery delivery.

10. How does the Club plan to grow?

The Club anticipates adding members and Club properties in the coming years using a careful and measured approach. This approach will allow the Club to maintain exceptional service levels and superior availability and to continually provide a variety of exciting new destinations.

Some properties featured may not be current assets of the Club but are under development and/or in the process of being acquired. Memberships are being offered exclusively for the purpose of permitting you to obtain recreational use of and access to the Club features. Memberships should not be viewed or acquired as an investment and you should not expect to derive any economic profits from your membership in the Club. Except for guest use privileges (for which you may not charge), you and your spouse or domestic partner are the only persons entitled to use your membership, and in no case may you "rent" or otherwise temporarily assign your membership use rights.
